Great Holiday Album!Nov 20, 2009

This album is wonderful - a nice relief from the more traditional Christmas albums. While it offers beloved Christmas songs, the style makes them seem fresh and new. Great jazz. I love this album!

A real achievement, and fun tooDec 26, 2010

"yeah yeah"
I never thought I would say both things in one breath about one product, but this is a great xmas album and also a fantastic jazz record. And it stands as an interesting measure of Marsalis's progress over the years when compared with his previous "Crescent City Christmas Card" album. This stands head and shoulders above that admittedly strong effort. Why? Somehow, Wynton manages to take the typical trite xmas material and renew it with arrangements that bring them up fresh, piquant and playful. The sound is great and the band manages to make a real jazz album out of the slim original materials. This one has to go up there with Ella's xmas album. To my knowledge there is no other jazz xmas album that lives up to the very different expectations of both of those words. Buy this while you can. It's a beauty. It swings. And its fun. Viva New Orleans.

A Fun Swinging Christmas AlbumDec 13, 2010
By Mark D. Shonkwiler There is alot of holiday joy in this album. It takes very familiar traditional tunes and presents them in swinging arrangements that are guaranteed to transport you into the holiday spirit. Much less serious than Marsalis' earlier Christmas album.

Best since DukeNov 18, 2010
By James B. Carr Best Christmas album since Ellington's Three Suites. Buy it and you will be playing it all season long and you won't even mind when it makes it into a Jazz playlist anytime of year.

great party musicFeb 16, 2011
By Cheryl Suckling I actually ordered this after Christmas, after watching a t.v. special about Wynton Marsalis. It's a great CD and I enjoyed it even though it was long after New Year's. It'll definately be on our play list next December.
