NHL '97

SKU:

NHL-97-G

This product is currently out of stock
Features:

NHL 97 took the graphics even further ahead, using a full 3D engine, with motion captured polygonal players. Each goaltender has his own custom-painted mask and the original artwork can be seen inside the game with a special "Goalie Mask Viewer". NHL 97 also introduces play-by-play commentary, provided by well-known announcer Jim Hughson. For the first time since EA Hockey, national teams were added, but only Canada, the United States, and Russia have their own teams while the other two are selections of the best European players. Along with the PC, Mega Drive/Genesis and SNES versions, both the Sega Saturn and PlayStation version made their debut, although they were rushed and buggy. For instance, the shot speed in the Playstation and Saturn versions was so slow that some skaters could beat a slapshot down the ice. The cover of the game features Florida Panthers goaltender John Vanbiesbrouck.

4NHL 97 OK!Feb 03, 2000

This game has much appeal, with control of up to 4 teams in season mode for different seasons! The game play is the same as NHL 96 or NHL 98 for Genesis, and the specialty moves are great. The transactions and CREATE-A-PLAYER is good. The one thing I do not like is the on-ice Stanley Cup celebration. The NHL 96 one is better. I recommend this game for hockey lovers everywhere.

4A nice improvement.May 23, 2002

This is much better than the ... '96. There are many improivements to the gameplay, as it plays just as well as '95. The graphics are great for Genesis, but are not as good when compared with the 32X, Saturn, Playstaion, and N64 stuff coming out these days. Solid, but not all it could have been.

I like this game for sega. But try to save for a nintendo 64 hockey game. That should be fun.

5Why this is the best...Dec 23, 2000

NHL 97 is by far the best hockey game yet. Whether you are taking the hard-hitting battles in the corners to the showdowns that seperate the men from the boys, this is a definite 5(out of 5). Also, you can train your goalie skills in a practice mode where you can go 2v2, 1v1, 2v1, 2v0, and 1v0. Personally, I like to go 2vs0 where I only control Martin Brodeur, against Pavel Bure and Sergei Federov.
